The New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE) participated in the 12th Annual Lower Hudson Valley Engineering EXPO at White Plains High School on March 22, 2015.
The Engineering EXPO is intended to be a fun, hands-on learning event with a goal of teaching students and adults how engineering impacts almost everything we do on a daily basis. This year the EXPO saw another huge number of attendees from all over the Lower Hudson Valley.
It was an amazing sight to see all of the students coming throughout the day to learn about engineering. There were also hundreds of exhibitors including top engineering companies and schools from all over the US.
NYSSPE representatives were active in the event in several capacities.
Jim A. Caggiano, P.E. of the NYSSPE Westchester/Putnam chapter was a very active member of the LHV EXPO planning committee.
The LHV EXPO Planning Committee consists of engineering professionals and other community members who meet on a regular basis throughout the year leading up to the event. Mal McLaren, P.E., NYSSPE member, hosts all of the meetings in his company’s office in West Nyack and offers a tremendous amount of resources including his staff for the event.
NYSPPE Westchester/Putnam chapter officers Vinny Cannizarro, PE and Ryan Lucia, PE acted as the judges for the high school Rube Goldberg competition.
Also other representatives from both the NYSSPE Rockland and Westchester/Putnam chapters were present with exhibitor booths at the event.
It was another very successful Lower Hudson Valley Engineering EXPO where many children walked away with a great understanding of and interest in the engineering profession.
