ALBANY, NY (January 19, 2016) – On Tuesday, March 15, 2016, the Capital District Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), a non-profit organization serving women in the construction and related industries, will give New York State Women Business Enterprises (WBE) an opportunity to meet local contractors and state agencies at its Annual WBE Showcase at The Century House in Latham, N.Y.
Following Governor Cuomo’s 2014 mandate to increase statewide M/WBE utilization goals to 30% percent for all state contracts, it is crucial for businesses that are at least fifty-one percent (51%) owned, operated and controlled by women to get certified and market themselves as certified businesses. The annual Showcase will create an avenue for WBE’s to not only market themselves to representatives from state agencies, architects, subcontractors, owners, developers and engineers, but also give them a chance to network with other NYS WBE’s.
The Showcase will run from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Booths are available for $250 for NAWIC members and $350 for non-NAWIC members. To sponsor or participate in the Showcase, please register at www.nawicnycap.org or contact Eileen Venn at (518) 378-5330 or Eileenv@mechtest.com.
