The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) has created the first annual Professional Engineer Day on August 3, 2016 to honor PE’s around the world. NSPE recognizes their commitment to public health, safety, and welfare and hopes to raise awareness of this growing profession.
The first professional engineering license was granted to Charles Bellamy in Wyoming on August 8, 1907. Since then, licensure and it’s importance in the work force has largely expanded. We would like to take this opportunity to thank professional engineers for their hard work and commitment. Please join us in celebrating professional engineers today!
On Professional Engineers Day, NSPE encourages professional engineers to continue to elevate the engineering community and share why they became licensed on social media using #LicensedPEDay. Professional Engineers Day will be celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of August and will provide an opportunity to educate the public on the role of a licensed professional engineer and for companies to recognize members of their staff who are licensed.
What can you do on Professional Engineers Day? Use #LicensedPEDay on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram to
- Upload a photo or video of yourself and share why you decided to become a PE;
- Post photos or videos of your team of PEs;
- Share your reasons for hiring PEs;
- Give special recognition to your PEs in the workplace; and
- Educate your colleagues about the importance of the PE license.
