The New York State Society of Professional Engineers held their annual conference at Fort William Henry in Lake George June 11th and 12th. The conference was well attended, and included a variety of learning sessions, a dinner cruise on the lake, and culminated with the NYSSPE Annual Awards and Installation Dinner, during which Lawrence O’Connor, PE, LS, FNSPE was inducted as the 2015-2016 NYSSPE President.
There were two learning sessions focused on major transportation projects in the New York City metropolitan area, the ramp reconstructions of both the Gowanus Expressway and the Verrazano Bridge. There was also a very interesting session on the use of stamps and seals by engineers among other PDH sessions.
The awards dinner highlighted NYSSPE award winners that have impacted the industry through different disciplines including water supply, wastewater, bridges, and sustainability. The project of the year was the Clarkstown Solar Field, the first large-scale municipal solar field in New York State.
The NYSSPE appreciates the support of all those engineers that attended the annual conference and continues to support the society and its mission.
