The New York Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE) participated in the Rebuild New York Now Lobby Day on March 21, 2016.
Rebuild NY Now is a partnership of supporters seeking to raise public awareness about the issues impacting New York State’s infrastructure. The coalition actively engages federal and state elected officials to support public policies that promote safe roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and other vital infrastructure.
As part of its effort to educate the public and our federal and state policy makers, Rebuild NY Now promotes relevant research, data points and news reports that highlight the need to rebuild New York State’s deteriorating infrastructure.
The Lobby Day was very successful. There were over 1,000 individuals who came to Albany to lobby for funding to improve New York State’s infrastructure. The day was filled with short speeches from legislators and other key people in the AEC industry.
NYSSPE Executive Director, Anthony Fasano, PE, addressed the crowd of over one thousand, talking about NYSSPE’s mission of protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public and how infrastructure plays a critical role in safety.
Mark Kriss, PE also attended on NYSSPE’s behalf and had some conversations with key legislators and industry professionals. Overall it was a great event, and NYSSPE was proud to be a part of it.
